LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said on Thursday that the rulers had made the lives of the people miserable. Talking to various delegations that called on him, he said that the government had destroyed the country’s economy. “People are without electricity, gas and even without a decent livelihood,” he said. Elahi said the ruling party was only interested in mega construction projects in order to embezzle public money. “They have no interest in developing the education or human resources. They have failed to set up any new department such as Rescue 1122 or Patrolling Police as we did during our tenure,” he said. “We provided free text books and uniforms to students. We also raised the salaries of teachers and resolved their problems,” he said. Elahi said that the people were fed up with the policies of the current government.
