The repatriation of Afghan nationals from various districts and holding camps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continued on Monday, with an additional 3,790 illegally residing Afghans returning to Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing, official figures said.
The largest number of departures was recorded at the Jamrud Holding Centre in Khyber district, from where 1,834 Afghan nationals were sent back.
Smaller groups also departed from Swabi, Jamrud tehsil, Nowshera, Haripur, Azakhel, Juma Khan, Kohat and Naguman camp in Peshawar.
Officials said the phased repatriation process remains underway and all these people are being transferred to Afghanistan via Torkham border after completion of the required legal formalities.
The latest figures bring the number of Afghan nationals repatriated from the province over the past 24 hours to 3,790.
At least 38 undocumented Afghan nationals have been detained in Swabi district during a joint operation conducted by the district administration and relevant agencies on Monday.
Following the completion of legal formalities, the individuals were repatriated to Afghanistan.
Officials said the operation was carried out in accordance with government directives and national laws targeting illegal residency. Several undocumented Afghans were identified and taken into custody during the crackdown.
The district administration stated that similar operations will continue to ensure compliance with immigration laws and to address the presence of persons residing in the country without valid legal documentation.
