U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States carried out military strikes against Iran in response to attacks on commercial vessels, warning that any future aggression would bring much harsher consequences. In a statement posted on social media, he said the US Iran tensions would escalate further if Iran repeated such actions.
Trump said the strikes were a direct response to what the United States described as Iranian attacks on ships passing through international waters. He warned Tehran that if similar incidents occurred again, the U.S. response would be far more severe. Earlier, Trump had also threatened additional military action against Iran while saying he did not expect a full-scale war to break out.
The U.S. president also claimed that Washington could take control of Iran’s Kharg Island, a key oil export terminal, though he did not provide further details about the statement.
U.S. Vice President JD Vance also warned Iran, saying that any attempt to block the Strait of Hormuz would trigger a military response from the United States. He said American operations would continue until Iran reopened the waterway and stopped attacks on commercial shipping, adding that Tehran must honor its commitments or face the consequences.
Meanwhile, the U.S. military announced additional strikes on several Iranian locations, including Sark, Chabahar, Bandar Abbas, Konarak, Iranshahr, and Abu Musa Island. According to U.S. officials, the operations were aimed at reducing Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian media reported that debris from a projectile struck Imam Ali Hospital in Chabahar and that a maritime traffic control tower and a depot were also hit. The developments have further intensified US Iran tensions.
