Field Marshal Asim Munir: Wars demand unity, not rhetoric

Published on: July 8, 2026 7:32 PM

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said wars are won through faith, unity, and discipline rather than media rhetoric or political slogans. Addressing graduating officers at the National Defence University (NDU), he stressed the importance of professional preparedness in an evolving security environment. His remarks come as Pakistan continues to confront cross-border security challenges and modern warfare threats.

Speaking at the National Security and War Course graduation ceremony, the Field Marshal said Pakistan’s armed forces are continuously modernising their strategy, capabilities, and operational readiness to meet emerging military challenges. He described the National Defence University as a key institution for preparing future military and civilian leadership, emphasizing its role in strengthening national security and state institutions.

Syed Asim Munir underscored the importance of strategic clarity, effective planning, and professional competence in modern warfare. He said the changing nature of conflict requires constant adaptation and advanced training to ensure the armed forces remain prepared for evolving threats. He also expressed confidence in the professionalism, morale, and operational readiness of Pakistan’s military.

The Field Marshal said Pakistan is fully aware of attempts by hostile intelligence agencies to destabilise the country. He asserted that proxy networks would not be allowed to undermine national peace, stability, or economic progress. He further pledged that cross-border terrorism would be dealt with decisively using the full strength of the state.
