In a recent interview with an Indian media outlet, the 78-year-old actress recalled that Dharmendra’s final message was a reminder for the entire family to remain together and always give priority to one another, regardless of the circumstances.
According to Hema Malini, Dharmendra believed that family should always come first and encouraged his loved ones to stay united through every stage of life. She said his words continue to guide the family and remain a cherished memory following his death.
The actress also spoke about her relationship with her stepsons, actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. She described both as caring sons and said the family maintains a close and respectful relationship. Hema Malini added that they have always preferred to keep their personal lives private rather than discussing family matters publicly.
She noted that Dharmendra also valued privacy and never liked bringing personal or family affairs into the public spotlight. According to her, this approach has helped preserve the family’s strong bond over the years.
Dharmendra passed away on November 24 last year at the age of 89, marking the end of a celebrated career spanning several decades in Indian cinema. He and Hema Malini first met in the late 1960s while working together in Bollywood and went on to star in several successful films.
The pair shared the screen in classics including Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, Dream Girl and The Burning Train. Their professional partnership later developed into a personal relationship, and they married in 1980.
