Pakistan has welcomed progress in the Iran-US peace process, saying the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and subsequent talks in Switzerland have strengthened confidence in diplomacy. Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the developments created momentum toward a final agreement within 60 days. The breakthrough underscores Pakistan’s growing diplomatic role in regional peace efforts.
Speaking at the weekly media briefing, Andrabi said the Islamabad MoU was a historic achievement that demonstrated the effectiveness of dialogue in resolving conflicts. He noted that Pakistan and Qatar jointly hosted high-level meetings in Switzerland that helped both sides reach understandings on key implementation issues. The talks also established a roadmap for negotiating a comprehensive agreement.
According to the Foreign Office, the process will be guided by a high-level committee overseeing working groups on nuclear matters, sanctions, monitoring and dispute resolution. The parties also agreed to create communication mechanisms to prevent misunderstandings and safeguard commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. A separate deconfliction cell involving regional stakeholders has also been established.

He noted Pakistan’s support for Palestinian rights and highlighted the adoption of a United Nations resolution sponsored by Pakistan to strengthen accountability for crimes against peacekeepers. The measure, backed by 153 UN member states, reinforces Pakistan’s active role in international diplomacy and multilateral cooperation.
