
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has returned to Pakistan after concluding his visit to Switzerland, where he participated in high-level Iran-US talks under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. The development is significant as it marks progress toward a potential diplomatic breakthrough involving major regional and global actors.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the negotiations were held in a positive and constructive atmosphere. Shehbaz Sharif said the discussions produced encouraging progress and laid the foundation for a structured roadmap. He stated that efforts are now focused on achieving a final agreement within 60 days.
The prime minister confirmed that a High-Level Committee has been established to oversee the process. He said the mechanism will ensure political supervision and continuity in negotiations. Technical-level talks are also expected to continue in the coming weeks to finalize details.
Shehbaz Sharif praised the leadership of both the United States and Iran for their commitment to constructive engagement. He also thanked Qatar and Switzerland for facilitating and hosting the discussions. According to him, international cooperation played a key role in advancing the diplomatic process.
The prime minister paid tribute to Field Marshal Asim Munir for his role in supporting the talks. He also acknowledged the efforts of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflicts.
