Pakistan has officially begun free registration for Hajj 2027, allowing citizens to apply online from home. The initiative is significant as it marks a full shift toward a digital system aimed at improving transparency and accessibility. Authorities say the move will simplify the pilgrimage process for thousands of applicants.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yousaf announced the launch during a ceremony in Islamabad. He said the process has been fully digitized under the prime minister’s directive. According to him, the new system is designed to make registration easier and more efficient.
The minister clarified that registration is mandatory for both government and private Hajj schemes. He warned that individuals who fail to register will not be eligible to apply for Hajj next year. This requirement applies to all prospective pilgrims across Pakistan.
Officials said a passport is not required at the time of registration but will be needed later during booking. The passport must remain valid until November 26, 2027, to meet eligibility criteria. Overseas Pakistanis can also register online using a valid Pakistani passport.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs said the digital system aims to ensure transparency and streamline procedures. Details regarding Hajj expenses will be announced at a later stage. Authorities described the initiative as a major reform in the country’s Hajj management process.
