Free online Hajj registration opens across Pakistan for 2027 pilgrimage

Published on: June 22, 2026 3:32 PM

The government has launched free online registration for citizens intending to perform Hajj in 2027, allowing applicants to complete the process from home without visiting any office. The initiative forms part of a broader effort to digitize the Hajj system and make the registration process easier, faster, and more transparent for millions of Pakistanis.

Speaking at the launch ceremony in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Yousaf said the government had fully digitalized the Hajj registration system on the instructions of the prime minister. As a result, intending pilgrims can now register online at no cost, reducing paperwork and improving access for applicants across the country.

The minister emphasized that registration is mandatory for all intending pilgrims, regardless of whether they plan to perform Hajj through the government scheme or a private operator. He warned that individuals who fail to complete the registration process will not be eligible to apply for Hajj next year under any arrangement.

Meanwhile, Sardar Yousaf clarified that applicants do not need a passport at the registration stage. However, a valid passport will become compulsory at the time of Hajj booking, and it must remain valid until November 26, 2027, to meet eligibility requirements set for the pilgrimage.

The government has also extended the facility to overseas Pakistanis, enabling them to register online from abroad. According to the minister, overseas applicants must possess a valid Pakistani passport to complete their registration and become eligible for the next Hajj process.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Religious Affairs expects the fully digital system to improve efficiency, enhance transparency, and simplify procedures for pilgrims. While the registration phase has begun, the minister said details regarding Hajj expenses and the financial structure will be announced separately at a later stage.
