A total of 17 candidates have submitted nomination papers for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly constituency LA-34 Jammu-I, a wide-ranging electoral seat covering 51 districts across the provinces of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan. According to Returning Officer Imtiaz Kalhoro, the candidates include 16 from Punjab and one permanent resident of Karachi. The constituency includes five districts of Balochistan – Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, Mastung and Sibi – along with 20 districts of Sindh, including the Karachi division, and 26 districts of Punjab. Officials said a total of 11,008 male and female voters are registered in the constituency. In several districts, there is only one voter, while in many others the number remains below 25. Age-wise, the youngest candidate is 26 years old, while three candidates are aged 76 years or above. Two candidates fall in the 56-65 age bracket. Only one woman has entered the race. The election also reflects elements of dynastic politics, as multiple candidates from the same families have filed nomination papers.
