KP govt approves Rs 10bn for electric bus service in Hazara

Published on: June 22, 2026 9:30 AM

Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Akbar Ayub Khan has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved Rs10 billion in the provincial budget for the launch of a modern electric bus service connecting Haripur, Abbottabad and Mansehra.

In a statement, the minister termed the allocation a major achievement for the people of Hazara Division and said the project fulfilled an important commitment made to the public.

He added that the electric bus service would provide modern, affordable, safe and environmentally friendly transport facilities to thousands of daily commuters across the region.

Akbar Ayub said the project would particularly benefit students, government and private-sector employees, businesspersons and other citizens who travel regularly between the three districts.

He noted that the initiative would not only improve public transportation but also contribute to the economic and social development of the area.

The minister said the introduction of electric buses would help reduce travel difficulties and lessen the impact of rising fuel costs on the public. He added that the project would also support environmental protection efforts by reducing carbon emissions and promoting clean transportation. According to Akbar Ayub Khan, the electric bus service project reflects the provincial government’s commitment to development and public welfare. He expressed confidence that the initiative would open new opportunities for growth, connectivity and prosperity for the people of Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra and the wider Hazara region.

He reiterated that the provincial government was continuing its efforts to fulfill public commitments and improve infrastructure and services across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
