Historic Pre-Canada Day, Ontario Day reception brings together diplomats, community leaders

Published on: June 21, 2026 7:52 AM

In a remarkable celebration of unity, multiculturalism, patriotism, and cultural diplomacy, renowned Canadian physicians Dr Mansoor Memon and Dr Erum Qalbani hosted a prestigious Pre-Canada Day and Ontario Day reception at the Frank McKechnie Community Centre in Mississauga. The grand event attracted more than 250 distinguished guests, including parliamentarians, diplomats, healthcare professionals, corporate executives, community leaders, and representatives from diverse cultural backgrounds.

The event served as a platform to celebrate Canada’s diversity while strengthening community bonds and promoting cross-cultural understanding. Guests were welcomed into an atmosphere of warmth and friendship, enjoying exquisite appetizers, refreshments, and a carefully curated dinner while networking with leaders from various sectors.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the moving rendition of the national anthems of Canada and Pakistan. Played consecutively, the anthems symbolized the strong friendship between the two nations and reflected the dual heritage proudly represented by many attendees.

The patriotic ceremony was followed by a grand Canada Day and Ontario Day cake-cutting celebration attended by diplomats, elected officials, and prominent community figures.

Ontario’s Deputy Premier formally congratulated Dr. Mansoor Memon and Dr. Erum Qalbani for organizing the unique event, emphasizing the importance of such gatherings in fostering social cohesion and strengthening the multicultural fabric of the province.

Mississauga Mayor Carolyn Parrish addressed the audience through a special video message, extending her congratulations to Canadians and praising the outstanding contributions of Dr. Mansoor Memon and Dr. Erum Qalbani to healthcare, community development, and public service. She highlighted that their dedication has earned them international recognition, including the prestigious Tamgha-e-Imtiaz awarded to Dr. Mansoor Memon by the Government of Pakistan for his exceptional services.

Members of Parliament and other elected officials also commended the physician duo, noting that their contributions extend far beyond community engagement and have left a lasting impact on healthcare, social development, and international cooperation.

As a tribute to their cultural heritage, the hosts presented visiting dignitaries with traditional Ajraks and cultural shawls, symbols of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization representing hospitality, respect, peace, and harmony. The gesture was warmly appreciated by all guests.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mansoor Memon and Dr. Erum Qalbani paid tribute to their parents, crediting them for instilling the values of compassion, integrity, service, and leadership that continue to guide their professional and philanthropic journey.

The event concluded on a highly inspirational note as the hosts reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening communities, advancing healthcare leadership, and creating opportunities for both overseas graduates and local professionals.

“True connectivity is not just about bringing people into a room; it is about uplifting them, breaking boundaries in healthcare, and building resilient communities where every overseas graduate and local professional finds a home and a purpose,” they remarked.

Participants described the event as a shining example of cultural diplomacy, community leadership, and public service, praising Dr. Mansoor Memon and Dr. Erum Qalbani for their continued efforts in bringing diverse communities together and promoting meaningful social change.
