Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will begin on June 25. The highly anticipated game is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. The launch matters to millions of gamers and could become the biggest gaming release of the year.
The developer has revealed limited details about the upcoming title, but industry analysts expect record-breaking demand. Estimates suggest GTA 6 cost more than $1 billion to develop. As a result, it may become the most expensive video game ever produced. The game will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. However, Rockstar has not announced a release date for PC players.
A major change in GTA 6 is the introduction of Lucia, the franchise’s first female playable protagonist. Players will also control Jason, her partner in crime. According to released trailers, the story follows the pair after a failed attempt at easy money. Consequently, they become trapped in a wider world of corruption and criminal activity.
The game returns players to Vice City, a fan-favorite location inspired by Miami. Rockstar has set the adventure in Leonida, a fictional state based on Florida. Furthermore, promotional material highlights beaches, swamps, flamingos, and alligators. These elements aim to create a larger and more immersive open-world experience than previous titles.
Meanwhile, GTA 6 arrives after years of development, delays, and industry scrutiny. GTA V launched in 2013 and sold about 230 million copies worldwide. Rockstar officially confirmed GTA 6 in 2022, but development faced leaks and production challenges. Even so, excitement remains exceptionally high, with the game’s two trailers attracting roughly 447 million views combined.
