Storms, heavy rains kill 10 across Pakistan

Published on: June 20, 2026 2:14 PM

At least 10 people were killed and several others injured in rain-related incidents across multiple cities of Pakistan as strong winds and heavy downpours triggered accidents and infrastructure damage. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, nine people lost their lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past 24 hours due to weather-related incidents. The deceased included five men, two women and two children. Report said accidents were reported in Dera Ismail Khan, Upper Dir, Kohat and Orakzai, while at least four houses were damaged during the severe weather. In Punjab, dust storms followed by light to heavy rainfall affected several cities. At Kot Qaisrani, passengers became stranded in a rain-swollen stream, prompting a rescue operation. Rescue teams managed to safely evacuate 10 people who were travelling on a tractor trolley and had become trapped in the water. In Faisalabad, five people were injured after the roof of a house collapsed on Kukianwala Road. Meanwhile, in Mian Channu, one person was killed and more than 10 others, including children, were injured in separate storm-related incidents. Meteorological authorities have warned that the spell of rain and stormy weather is likely to continue until June 22, raising concerns over further disruptions and damage.
