Memon describes Sindh budget as balanced, people-friendly

Published on: June 18, 2026 9:35 AM

Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, while describing the Sindh Government’s budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 as people-friendly, balanced, and reflective of development priorities, said that the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Sindh Government has always placed public welfare, employment, education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development at the forefront of its agenda. He said that this budget will serve as a strong foundation for Sindh’s bright future, economic stability, and public prosperity.

In a statement, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the tax-free budget carries a message of relief, development, and prosperity for the people of Sindh. He added that the increase in the minimum wage from Rs 40,000 to Rs 43,000 is an important and welcome step for the welfare of the working class.

He said that the Sindh Government’s development vision is not limited to mere announcements but is backed by practical measures, as demonstrated by the record development investment of more than Rs 900 billion during the last fiscal year.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Sindh People’s Housing Program is a unique public welfare initiative in Pakistan’s history, through which millions of families are being provided with homes of their own.

He stated that education and healthcare remain among the top priorities of the Sindh Government, and substantial allocations have been made for these sectors in the budget. Special emphasis has been placed on the construction of schools, recruitment of teachers, provision of modern medical facilities, and expansion of healthcare institutions.

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the agriculture sector will be further strengthened through the provision of the Benazir Hari Card, agricultural machinery, modern technology, crop insurance, and financial assistance. He added that special attention has been given to development projects across all districts of Sindh, including Karachi, with billions of rupees allocated for mega projects in the city. He said that major projects such as Shahrah-e-Bhutto will significantly improve Karachi’s traffic system and urban infrastructure.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that initiatives such as the Digital Sindh Vision, Green Data Infrastructure, AI Economy, and the Sindh International Financial Center will create new opportunities for investment, employment, and economic activity across the province.

He further said that the Keti Bandar project will mark a new chapter in Sindh’s economic development by connecting Pakistan more effectively to global trade routes. Linked with the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone and Thar’s natural resources, the project is expected to emerge as a major hub of economic activity in the future.

He said that the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Sindh Government remains committed to serving the people, developing the province, and creating better opportunities for the youth.
