Muneeb Butt gets interim bail extension in kidnapping case

Published on: June 9, 2026 3:43 PM

The Anti-Terrorism Court at Central Jail Karachi on Tuesday extended the interim bail of actor Muneeb Butt in a kidnapping for ransom case registered by Airport Police. The actor appeared before the court during the hearing, after which the judge granted him continued legal protection while proceedings in the case move forward.

The case stems from a first information report filed on April 23 on the complaint of Mutal Khan. Investigators allege that Muneeb Butt was involved in the kidnapping of the complainant along with several other suspects. However, the allegations remain under investigation and no final determination has been made by the court.

According to details included in the FIR, the complainant was allegedly forced to transfer cryptocurrency from his account while being held by the accused. Investigators claim the digital assets were moved during the period of alleged captivity, making cryptocurrency transactions a central part of the ongoing inquiry.

Furthermore, the case record states that the complainant was later released in Karachi’s Korangi area after the alleged cryptocurrency transfer had been completed. Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the reported transfer and the sequence of events leading to the complainant’s release.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies continue to collect evidence and review statements linked to the case. The investigation remains active as officials seek to establish the roles of all individuals named in the FIR and verify the claims presented by the complainant.

With the latest hearing concluded, the Anti-Terrorism Court has allowed Muneeb Butt to remain on interim bail until further proceedings. The case is expected to return to court as investigators continue their work and legal arguments from both sides are presented before the judge.
