
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Faisal Karim Kundi met Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani in Islamabad to discuss the country’s political situation, parliamentary affairs and a range of challenges facing the province.

During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on issues affecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including administrative difficulties, economic concerns and matters related to public welfare. Governor Kundi highlighted obstacles in wheat transportation and inter-provincial movement, stating that the restrictions were creating hardships for farmers, traders and the general public.
He emphasized the need for effective federal support to address these challenges and ensure the smooth movement of essential commodities. The governor also stressed the importance of utilizing constitutional and democratic institutions to resolve public issues, protect provincial rights and accelerate development initiatives.
The discussion also covered law and order, employment opportunities, access to basic services and measures aimed at improving the welfare of residents across the province. Governor Kundi noted that addressing these concerns was essential for promoting economic stability and improving living standards.
Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani expressed interest in helping resolve issues faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and underscored the importance of political unity in safeguarding the province’s interests. He said cooperation among political stakeholders was necessary to tackle challenges and strengthen democratic governance.
Gilani also appreciated the governor’s efforts regarding the removal of restrictions on wheat transportation and initiatives aimed at reopening CNG stations in the province. He reiterated the Senate’s commitment to supporting measures that benefit citizens and contribute to regional development.
Both leaders agreed on the need to strengthen coordination between the federal government and provinces to address public concerns more effectively. They also discussed ways to promote parliamentary traditions, reinforce democratic institutions and improve consultation among federating units.
