A fire broke out in the power van of the Karachi-to-Rawalpindi 7-Up Tezgam Express between Riazabad and Khanewal on Monday, but a major accident was averted due to the swift response of railway staff and emergency services. According to a spokesperson for Pakistan Railways Multan Division, the train guard alerted authorities immediately after detecting the fire. Railway officials promptly detached the affected power van from the train to ensure passenger safety. Rescue 1122 teams reached the scene and successfully extinguished the fire. All passengers remained safe and no casualties or injuries were reported. A relief locomotive was dispatched to facilitate the continuation of the journey, while the affected power van and related train components were safely shifted to Khanewal and Riazabad. Railway operations were restored without significant disruption, and train traffic continued normally. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
