Long speeches in assembly should be avoided to address real issues: Memon

Published on: May 26, 2026 8:24 AM

Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has said that under the rules and regulations, regular time is allocated for call-attention notices; therefore, it is mandatory for every member of the assembly to adhere to the prescribed rules.

Speaking in the Sindh Assembly, he said that the main purpose of call-attention notices is to present an issue before the House in a short, comprehensive, and effective manner. He added that all members represent their respective constituencies, which is a valuable process; however, long speeches and unnecessary details should be avoided so that all questions and answers can be completed within the stipulated time.

Sharjeel Inam Memon strongly condemned the tragic incident that took place in Balochistan and expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the affected families. He said that the whole world is praising the thoughtful and wise role played by the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal during the tensions between Iran and the United States. He added that in the coming days, good news would emerge that would be significant not only for Pakistan but also for the entire world, proving that Pakistan is a peace-loving and conciliatory country. He credited the federal government, the Prime Minister, and the Field Marshal for this.

He said that the joyous occasion of Eid is near and prayed that all pilgrims going to perform Hajj return home safely and soundly. Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Pakistan Peoples Party has given a great gift to the people in the form of Shahra-e-Bhutto, which is a highly important project not only for Karachi and Sindh but also for the entire country. He added that he had travelled to Hyderabad for the distribution ceremony of the Pink Scooties scheme and arrived by 12:30 for the one-hour program.

He said that after the inauguration of the Shahra-e-Bhutto project, strong statements opposing it began to emerge, although good and quality work should always be welcomed and appreciated. He said that people do not need empty slogans and chaos, but unity and solidarity. On the occasion of Eid, he urged people to demonstrate forgiveness, tolerance, and unity.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that Pakistan gave a crushing defeat to India in what he described as the battle for truth, after which, he claimed, India faced reluctance across the world. He said that criticism on every issue is not the right approach and that positive steps should instead be encouraged. He added that after the launch of the Pink Scooties scheme, twenty-five thousand women applied for driving licenses within a year, calling it a social revolution.

He said that understanding is the need of the hour and urged parties promoting hate speech to avoid such language and behavior so that unity, harmony, and a positive political environment can be promoted in the country.
