The Meteorological Department has issued a severe heatwave alert for Sindh as temperatures are expected to rise sharply between May 25 and May 31. The alert warns that several districts may face extreme heat due to a developing high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere. Authorities say conditions could become hazardous for vulnerable groups across the province.
Officials said temperatures are expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal during the period. In some areas, the mercury may rise as high as 50 degrees Celsius. The warning highlights an increased risk of heat-related illnesses and stress on public services.

According to the forecast, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Dadu may experience temperatures between 47°C and 50°C. Other districts including Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Ghotki, and Naushahro Feroze are also likely to face severe heat conditions. Several southern and eastern districts may see similarly intense weather patterns.
In Hyderabad, Badin, Tharparkar, Umerkot, and Mirpurkhas, temperatures are expected to remain between 44°C and 47°C. Meanwhile, Karachi will experience hot and humid weather over the next three days. The city’s maximum temperature may reach 36°C, with slightly higher levels over the weekend.

Authorities have urged citizens to take precautionary measures during the heatwave. They advised children, women, elderly people, and patients to avoid direct sun exposure. Farmers have also been instructed to protect crops and livestock from extreme heat conditions.
