Textile sector exports up 1.3%

Pakistan’s textile sector exports showed an increase of 1.29 percent, reaching USD 15.025 billion during the first 10 months of 2025-26 against USD 14.834 billion in the same period of 2024-25, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported.

According to PBS data, the textile commodities included bed wear, the exports of which increased by 1.85 percent to USD 2.617 billion during the period under review, as compared to the exports of USD 2.569 billion last year. The export of knitwear recorded an increase of 0.92 percent, reaching USD 4.156 billion compared to USD 4.118 billion during the same period of last year.

The other commodities that witnessed trade growth included made-up articles (excluding towels and bed-wear, the export of which surged by 0.1.86 percent to USD 654.59 million from USD 642.635 million, raw cotton by 199.20 percent to USD 2.606 million from USD 0.871 million, and cotton yarn by 11.29 percent to USD 641.042 million from USD 576.017 million. The export of all other textile materials increased by 8.06 percent to USD 660.137 million from USD 610.914 million, and ready-made garments exports also witnessed an increase of 4.85 percent to USD 3.558 billion from USD 3.394 billion last year.

The textile commodities that witnessed negative trade growth included cotton cloth, the export of which declined by 8.79 percent from USD 1.550 billion to USD 1.414 billion, while the export of towels decreased by 1.43 percent from USD 903 million to USD 890 million.

Similarly, the export of yarn other than cotton yarn also decreased by 4.61 percent from USD 27.591 million to USD 26.318 million, art silk and synthetic textile by 9.50 percent from USD 801.501 million to USD 330.862 million, and Art silk and synthetic textile by 10.56 percent from $303.919 million to USD 299.446 million.

Meanwhile, the textile exports from the country witnessed an increase of 21.27 percent during April 2026 as compared to the corresponding month of last year. The textile exports in March 2026 were recorded at USD 1.480 billion against the exports of USD 1.220 billion in April 2025. On a Month-on-Month (MoM) basis, the textile exports, however, increased by 11.26 percent in April 2026 when compared to the exports of USD 1.328 billion in March 2026, according to PBS data. According to PBS Pakistan’s exports in April 2026 totaled USD2.389 billion as compared to USD 2.64 billion in March 2026, showing an increase of 9.50 percent on a monthly basis.

The country’s exports during July-April, 2025 – 2026, totaled USD 25.209 billion against $26.892 billion during the corresponding period of last year, showing a decrease of 6.26 percent. On the other hand, the imports in April 2026 totaled USD 6.763 billion as compared to USD 5.103 billion in March 2026, showing an increase of 32.53 percent. In terms of US dollars, the imports during July – April, 2025 – 2026, totaled USD 57.408 billion as against USD 53.486 billion during the corresponding period of last year, showing an increase of 7.33 percent.

Based on the provisional figures of imports and exports, the balance of trade in April 2026 was recorded at USD 4.284 billion, while from July to April, 2025-2026, USD 32.199 billion.
