The National Assembly on Monday passed four bills clause-by-clause with a majority vote. The bills included: The Standard Time (Interpretation of References) (Amendment) Bill, 2026; the Civil Servants Act, 1973 (The Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill, 2025); the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) (Amendment) Bill, 2025; and the Environmentally Sound Management of Inventory of Hazardous Material on Ships Bill, 2025.
Meanwhile, consideration of two bills – the Special Economic Zones (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and the Islamabad Capital Territory Condominium (Ownership and Management) Bill, 2026 – was deferred.
Seven new private member bills introduced in Senate
As many as seven new private member bills including the Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2026, (Amendment of Schedule II of Cr.PC), the Passports (Amendment) Bill, 2026, the Iqra Global University Bill, 2026, the Foreign Investment (Promotion and Protection) (Amendment) Bill, 2026, the Islamabad International University Pakistan Bill, 2026, the Members of Parliament (Salaries and Allowances) (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and the Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2026 were introduced in Senate on Monday. The bills were introduced by senators Sarmad Ali, Mohammad Abdul Qadir, Manzoor Ahmed, Hidayatullah Khan and Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari in the House.
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani referred all the bills to the concerned standing committees for detailed deliberation.
