Agriculture chemicals imports grow 7.23%

Agriculture and other chemical group imports into the country during the first 09 months of current financial year grew by 7.23 percent as compare to the imports of the corresponding period of the last year.

During the period from July-March 2025-26, agriculture chemicals worth of $7.769 billion were imported in order to fulfill the local requirements as compared to the imports of $7.245 billion of the same period of the last year, according the data of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

The import of the fertilizers manufactured during the period under review grew by 4.16 percent as 806,244 metric tons of fertilizer worth $522.495 million were imported as compared to the imports of 820,118 metric tons valued at $501.606 million of the same period of the last year.

Meanwhile, the country spent $150.324 million on the imports of about 30,341 metric tons of pesticides, as compared to the imports of 20,995 metric tons costing $108.490 million of the same period of the last year.

During last 09 months of the current financial year, about 1.900 million metric tons of plastic material worth $2.163 million were also imported as compared to the imports of 1.607 million metric tons valued at $2.008 million of the same period of the last year.

During first three quarters of the current financial year, about 36,170 metric tons of medicinal products worth of $1.027 billion were also imported in order to fulfill the local requirements as compared to the imports of 26,736 metric tons valued at $913.869 million of the same period of the last year.
