Messi goal fails as Orlando stage stunning 4-3 comeback

Published on: May 3, 2026 4:20 PM

Lionel Messi scored in his 100th appearance for Inter Miami, but his effort could not stop a dramatic collapse as Orlando City won 4-3. The match took place at Miami’s new stadium, where fans expected a historic victory that quickly turned into disappointment.

Inter Miami started strongly and built an early 3-0 lead, with Ian Fray scoring in the fourth minute and Telasco Segovia adding another goal in the 25th minute. Messi then extended the lead in the 33rd minute with a precise curling strike from outside the penalty area.

However, Orlando City responded with relentless pressure and gradually shifted momentum in their favor. Martin Ojeda led the comeback by scoring three crucial goals, starting with a powerful long-range strike in the 39th minute to reduce the deficit.

Furthermore, Ojeda continued his brilliant performance in the second half by scoring again in the 68th minute and later converting a penalty in the 79th minute. His equalizer completed a remarkable hat-trick that stunned the home crowd.

Finally, Tyrese Spicer sealed the victory for Orlando City during injury time, finishing a fast counterattack with a composed strike between the goalkeeper’s legs. The dramatic winner completed one of the most memorable comebacks of the season.

As a result, Inter Miami suffered their second defeat of the season despite a strong start, while Orlando City gained a significant morale-boosting victory. The match highlighted defensive weaknesses and raised concerns about Miami’s ability to maintain leads under pressure.
