A new documentary series based on previously unreleased recordings of Diana, Princess of Wales, is set to be released in 2027, promising to present her story in her own voice. The project focuses on private conversations recorded in the early 1990s that later formed part of a landmark biography.
The series, titled “Diana: The Unheard Truth,” uses around five hours of audio recordings made between Diana and her confidante, Dr. James Colthurst. These tapes originally contributed to Andrew Morton’s 1992 book “Diana: Her True Story,” which reshaped public understanding of the royal family.

Moreover, producers say the three-part series aims to revisit Diana’s life with new context and restored perspective. They claim the recordings reveal her personality, humour, and private reflections during her time in the global spotlight as the Princess of Wales.
Additionally, the documentary will include contributions from members of Diana’s close circle, including advisers, friends, and former staff. It also revisits the public scrutiny and media pressure that surrounded her marriage and life within the British monarchy.
