Over 3.23m tonnes rice worth $1.89bn exported in nine months

Over 3.235 million metric tons of rice worth $1.894 million were exported during last 09 months of the current financial year as compared to the exports of the corresponding period of the last year.

During the period from July-March 2025-26 rice exports from the country decreased by 38.55 percent as exports of the rice during the first 09 months of last financial year were recorded 4.678 million tons worth of $2.757 million.

According the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the country earned $598.968 million by exporting about 558,296 metric tons of Basmati rice as against the exports of 658,703 metric tons valued at $676.967 million of the same period of the last year.

Meanwhile, about 2.677 million metric tons of rice other then Basmati valued at $1.097 million were exported as compared to the exports of 4.019 million metric tons worth $2.080 million of the same period of the last year, it added.

The exports of food group from the country during last 09 months of current financial year were recorded at $3.800 billion as compared to the exports of $5.754 billion of the same period of the last year.

On year on year basis, the exports of food commodities during the month of March, 2026 were recorded at $406.005 million as compared to the exports of $576.177 million of the same period of the last year.

The food group imports into the country during the first 09 months of current financial year were recorded at $7.090 billion as compared to the imports of $6.158 billion of the same period of the last year.
