Khamenei emphasized that Iran’s defense posture is not limited to its own territory but extends to safeguarding regional stability. His comments reflect Tehran’s increasingly assertive stance as disputes over naval blockades and control of key waterways continue.
Separately, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh criticized what he described as an unlawful blockade of Iranian ports by the United States. Speaking at a media briefing, he said such actions violate international norms and escalate tensions unnecessarily.
Khatibzadeh also referenced recent statements by US President Donald Trump, noting what he described as contradictions in Washington’s messaging. He warned that threats of military action could further destabilize the situation and complicate diplomatic efforts.
The Iranian official reiterated that Iran would continue to defend itself and maintain its position until its security concerns are addressed. He stressed that prolonged conflict would not produce positive outcomes and urged the United States to reconsider its approach.
The latest statements come amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding a fragile ceasefire and negotiations aimed at easing tensions between the two countries. Regional observers warn that rhetoric on both sides could impact efforts to stabilize the situation.

Analysts say that Iran’s emphasis on military readiness underscores the fragile nature of the current environment, where diplomatic engagement and strategic restraint remain crucial to avoiding further escalation in an already volatile region.
