Published on: April 18, 2026 11:49 AM

Iran and US agreed to have dialogue on the precondition that Pakistan would be a part of it, Pakistan’s deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said while addressing a session of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Friday.

Dar said that due to the timelines, both delegations had to leave adding that the room for negotiations are open and that issues remain but efforts are underway to stitch the issues.

Dar said that enhancing trade was a collective responsibility adding that “the least performing economic bloc of this region is SAARC, dont want to go in the blame game but everyone knows the certain roadblocks are”, while emphasizing on the need for connecitivity.

“Pakistan’s objective is not extension of the ceasefire but instead termination of the war which can come through an MoU, a deal, a framework or anything around it”, said Dar while addressing a question which was posed to him regarding Pakistan’s expectation on the current ceasefire.

In a startling revalation, Pakistan’s deputy PM and Foreign Minister said that Iran and US had solved the issue of US sanctions, he said,”These were the first direct talks at this level in 47 years, since 1979. Many issues were sorted, Strait of Hormuz was sorted, Sanctions was sorted but then there were issues which had to be worked on”, Dar added that, “We have crossed more than 80% of the work done. Both parties have to show flexibility”.

During the session, Bangladesh’s foreign minister Khalil ur Rehman thanked Pakistan for its efforts for peace, “Want to thank my brother Ishaq Dar and his country for playing their efforts for peace”, said Khalil ur Rehman.

On the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister held bilateral meetings with Foreign Minister of Austria, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bangladesh, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Dar also met the Trade and investment minister of Singapore.
