The output of the Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI) witnessed an increase of 5.89 per cent during the first eight months of the current fiscal year (2025-26) as compared to the corresponding months of last year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported Thursday. The Quantum Index Numbers of Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (QIM) for July-February (2025-26) was recorded at 122.77 points as compared to 115.94 points during July-February 2024-25. On year-on-year basis, the industry grew by 6.45 percent in February 2026 as compared to February 2025 whereas on month-on-month basis, it decreased by 8.97 percent when compared to January 2026. The provisional quantum indices of Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI) for February, 2026 with base year 2015-16 have been developed on the basis of latest data supplied by the source agencies. The main contributors towards overall growth of 5.89% are Food (0.98), Tobacco (0.13), Textile (0.27) Garments (1.18), Petroleum Products (0.85), Chemicals (-0.09), Pharmaceuticals (-0.30), Cement (0.61), Iron & Steel Products (-0.24), Electrical Equipment (0.25), Machinery and Equipment (-0.06), Automobiles (1.50), Other transport Equipment (0.23), and Furniture (0.20).
