CDF Munir, Naqvi arrive in Tehran for Mideast talks

Published on: April 15, 2026 7:35 PM

A high-level Pakistani delegation has arrived in Tehran as part of ongoing efforts to facilitate US–Iran negotiations. The delegation is being led by Field Marshal Asim Munir, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is also accompanying the visit, officials confirmed.

The ISPR said the visit is part of Pakistan’s continuing mediation efforts in the regional diplomatic process. The delegation is expected to engage in discussions aimed at reviving dialogue between Washington and Tehran. The move underscores Pakistan’s growing role as a facilitator in Middle East diplomacy.

According to Arab media reports, the Pakistani team will hold key talks on restarting negotiations between the United States and Iran. Iranian sources said the visit comes amid renewed efforts to resume stalled diplomatic engagement. The timing is seen as significant given recent tensions in the region.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei earlier said that message exchanges with the United States are ongoing through Pakistan. He also indicated that Iran may host a Pakistani delegation as part of the continuing dialogue process. Talks are expected to focus on de-escalation and diplomatic continuity.

Media reports suggest that a second round of discussions could be held in Islamabad in the coming days. Officials have not confirmed final arrangements yet. The process remains ongoing with no formal agreement announced so far.
