Arrival of JD Vance in Pakistan has triggered a wave of memes on social media

ISLAMABAD: The arrival of US Vice President JD Vance in Pakistan has triggered a wave of viral memes on social media, even as the country hosts high-stakes talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad.

As foreign delegations continue to arrive for what are being described as historic negotiations following a recent ceasefire, global attention has turned toward Pakistan. At the same time, local social media users have injected humor into the situation with their signature wit and creativity.

One widely shared joke claimed that Vance’s mobile phone stopped working immediately upon arrival because it was not approved by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), referencing Pakistan’s mobile device registration rules. The meme quickly went viral, with users playfully highlighting everyday regulatory quirks.

Other posts imagined the US vice president in humorous scenarios, including enjoying traditional Pakistani foods or visiting local spots. In one viral edit, he was shown eating egg paratha at a roadside eatery, while another depicted him appearing for an interview with a popular morning show host.

Some users also shared edited images pairing Vance with well-known Pakistani journalists and celebrities, adding humorous captions and fictional dialogues. The trend reflects how quickly online communities react to major global events, often blending satire with current affairs.

The humor extended beyond Vance, as earlier memes also featured Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in exaggerated and satirical roles involving regional leaders.

While the memes continue to circulate widely, the diplomatic talks in Islamabad remain the primary focus, with hopes for meaningful progress. The online reaction, however, highlights Pakistan’s vibrant digital culture, where even serious geopolitical moments are met with humor and creativity.
