PM Shehbaz Sharif thanks foreign ministers for backing peace efforts

Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed gratitude to the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt following a quadrilateral meeting in Islamabad aimed at addressing the escalating Middle East crisis and promoting peace efforts.

The meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, brought together regional leaders to discuss ways to de-escalate the conflict between the United States and Iran, which has now entered its second month, raising concerns about wider regional instability and disruptions to global energy supplies.

In a message shared on social media, the prime minister thanked Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan for his visit and praised the kingdom’s restraint during the ongoing crisis. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia and highlighted its leadership role in the Muslim world, stressing the importance of unity among Islamic nations.

Sharif also acknowledged the contributions of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to end hostilities that are causing significant human and economic losses across the region.

Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to peace, the prime minister said Islamabad remains determined to facilitate dialogue between Washington and Tehran. Officials have indicated that Pakistan may host direct talks between the two sides in the coming days, with diplomatic engagements intensifying.
