Business leaders slam GSP plus propaganda

Published on: March 27, 2026 9:11 PM

Pakistan’s business community has rejected propaganda against the GSP plus status. They urged the government to act against those spreading negative narratives. The issue matters because exports and economic stability depend on this trade facility.

Speaking at a press conference, business leaders stressed the importance of protecting the status. United Business Group leader S M Tanveer led the call for urgent action. He said the facility plays a key role in supporting exporters and industries.

Moreover, he highlighted that Pakistan secured the status for 2024 to 2027. He credited all stakeholders for achieving this important trade milestone. Therefore, he warned that any compromise could harm economic progress and investor confidence.

Meanwhile, APTMA chairman Kamran Arshad shared export growth figures. He said exports rose from under two billion dollars in 2013. They have now reached around 9.5 billion dollars due to this facility.

Additionally, leaders acknowledged current economic challenges and ongoing government efforts. They called for more trade agreements to expand export opportunities. They also stressed continued dialogue with taxpayers to ensure long term economic stability.
