India approves $25 billion defense deals

India’s defense procurement council approved nearly $25 billion in military acquisitions, enhancing the country’s defense capabilities. The decision includes S-400 missile systems, transport aircraft, and armed drones. This move affects the Indian military and strengthens national security.

The approved projects include medium transport aircraft, Russian-made S-400 air defense systems, and unmanned attack aircraft. Officials confirmed these acquisitions aim to modernize India’s armed forces and improve strategic readiness. Analysts say the deals demonstrate India’s focus on advanced technology.

For the Indian Army, the council approved air defense tracked systems, armored tank ammunition, high-capacity radio relay systems, Dhanush gun systems, and runway-independent aerial surveillance systems. These upgrades are expected to enhance battlefield efficiency and operational flexibility.

The Indian Air Force will receive medium transport planes, long-range S-400 missile systems, unmanned attack aircraft, and overhaul services for Su-30 fighter engines. Experts note that these steps significantly improve India’s air defense and strike capabilities.

Additionally, the Indian Coast Guard will acquire heavy-duty air-cushion vehicles, expanding maritime security. Overall, the $25 billion procurement plan marks a major modernization step for India’s defense sector. It reflects strategic priorities to counter regional threats and strengthen military readiness.
