Published on: March 27, 2026 4:27 PM

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad on Friday to discuss counter-terrorism and security cooperation. The meeting also covered the Police Exchange Programme and regional security developments, according to the Interior Ministry.

Naqvi was welcomed at the embassy in Islamabad’s Diplomatic Enclave, with the ministry posting a video of the reception on social media. Officials said discussions included measures to protect Chinese investors in Pakistan and plans for a dedicated business security conference.

The conference will be held in two phases: initial meetings with Chinese businesses already operating in Pakistan, followed by discussions with prospective investors interested in the country. The aim is to address security concerns and strengthen investor confidence.

Naqvi also announced the formation of a Special Protection Unit to safeguard foreign citizens, particularly Chinese nationals in Islamabad. The unit’s personnel will receive training in security protocols and the Chinese language to improve coordination.

The meeting follows recent diplomatic engagements, including Ambassador Jiang’s visit to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where regional stability and Pakistan’s role in de-escalation were discussed. Chinese officials have also met with provincial authorities to review law and order arrangements for Chinese citizens in Punjab.
