Karachi is set to experience moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms on Thursday, with temperatures dropping noticeably, the Pakistan Meteorological Department reported. The unstable weather follows a severe storm that struck the city a day earlier.
A system of westerly winds is persisting over Karachi, contributing to unstable atmospheric conditions. Thunderclouds are expected to develop from morning through afternoon, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning across different parts of the city.

Isolated areas may see intense downpours between afternoon and evening, or even later at night. Maximum daytime temperatures are forecast between 27°C and 29°C, while the minimum recorded earlier in the day was 18.5°C, with northwest winds at four kilometres per hour.
The Met Office warned of gusty winds and potential lightning strikes during rainfall, urging residents to exercise caution. Authorities also reminded the public to avoid low-lying areas and take precautions against flooding and road hazards.

Friday is expected to bring mostly sunny conditions, but cloud cover will return by Saturday under the influence of the same weather system, with further thunderstorms and rainfall predicted in Karachi and rural Sindh.
The previous storm caused significant damage, claiming at least 19 lives and injuring several others. Korangi recorded the heaviest rainfall at 55.6 millimetres, while other areas received between 15mm and 35mm, highlighting the severity of the recent weather events.
