UAE allows expired visa holders to return until march 31

Published on: March 13, 2026 4:24 PM

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have announced a special grace period allowing foreign residents with expired residence visas to return to the country until March 31, 2026. Officials said the measure aims to help residents who remained abroad after their visas expired due to various personal or travel-related circumstances. The decision provides an opportunity for affected individuals to restore their legal residency status. Authorities believe the step will help manage immigration matters in a structured and lawful manner.

According to official statements, the special extension allows eligible residents to re-enter the UAE and begin the process of regularizing their immigration status. Individuals must complete all required procedures and submit the necessary documentation upon arrival. Authorities emphasized that restoring legal residency will depend on compliance with the country’s immigration regulations. Therefore, returning residents must ensure their documents and applications meet the required legal standards.

Officials also indicated that some individuals may receive partial relief regarding financial penalties or administrative restrictions. However, authorities clarified that any leniency will depend on the nature of each case and the applicable regulations. Immigration departments will review applications individually before granting any relaxation in fines or procedural requirements. Consequently, residents are encouraged to carefully review their eligibility before planning their return.

Furthermore, the authorities highlighted that the extension is particularly important for residents who were unable to travel back to the UAE on time. Many individuals faced delays due to personal issues, travel limitations, or administrative complications. The government believes the grace period provides a fair opportunity for such residents to resolve their immigration matters without facing severe consequences.

Officials have advised foreign residents and concerned individuals to verify their legal status and begin necessary procedures within the announced timeframe. They warned that failing to regularize residency before the deadline could lead to further complications under immigration laws. Authorities also confirmed that the situation is being monitored closely, and additional guidance may be issued if required to support affected residents.
