PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police foiled a terror plot and arrested 5 ‘militants’ in Peshawar, on Thursday. According to police sources, DPO Zahur Afridi directed DSP Shabqader Inam Jan Khan to conduct a raid to arrest the ‘militants’, which lead to the arrest of Muhammad Umer, Mufti Qalim, Muhammad Israr, Fazalullah and Inayatullah. A large cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from their possession. It is pertinent to mention that several target killings have happened in Charsadda over the last couple of years, including that of a religious leader. The area is close to Mohmand Agency of the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas, which had reportedly been a safe haven for militant leaders in the past. Recent military operations have led to most militants fleeing to Afghanistan and surrounding areas. According to police sources, foiling the terror plot was a huge achievement in the fight against extremism. KP Police IG Salahuddin lauded the efforts of Charsadda police in foiling the terror plot.
