Iran claims Israel using civilians as shields

Published on: March 9, 2026 11:36 PM

Iran’s armed forces claim they are carrying out “managed and phased offensive operations” targeting US and Israeli positions in the Middle East. Tehran alleges civilians in northern and central areas of Israel are being used as human shields, complicating military operations. The development could escalate tensions in the region and affect civilians.

According to a statement by the Khatim Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters spokesperson, Iranian units are conducting “step-by-step and calculated” strikes. The spokesperson added that each attack is equivalent to multiple coordinated impacts across different locations, stressing the precision and intensity of the operations.

Field observations cited by the Iranian statement suggested Israeli forces were confining residents in certain areas to protect military personnel. The spokesperson said these tactics complicated Iranian military efforts while increasing the risk to civilians.

The statement further claimed that American military bases across the region were facing the “daily impact” of Iranian missiles and drones. Iran warned its weapons could be deployed at any time in accordance with the orders of the Islamic Republic’s armed forces.

While the claims have not been independently verified, the spokesperson said the operations continue as a response to the “hollow hegemony of the enemy.” Tehran signaled its intent to maintain precision strikes against what it perceives as hostile forces.
