The Punjab government has decided to establish specialised anti-drone units across all districts of the province to counter unauthorised drone activities and strengthen aerial security amid rising regional tensions.
According to the provincial Home Department, these units will use advanced jamming technology to disable drones operated illegally by enemies of Pakistan or by miscreants attempting to misuse aerial devices.

Moreover, the newly formed units will conduct regular aerial surveillance using specialised drone fleets to monitor district airspace and detect suspicious activity, helping authorities respond quickly to potential security threats.
Officials said each anti-drone unit and its operational systems will function under the command of the respective District Police Officer (DPO), ensuring effective coordination between law enforcement agencies at the district level.

In addition, Section 144 remains enforced across Punjab, which prohibits the flying of outdoor drones by the public due to ongoing security concerns and the possibility of misuse during sensitive circumstances.
The move follows recent tensions after border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, when authorities reported that security forces had successfully foiled several drone attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during exchanges with militant groups.
