Mobile phone imports surge 31.36% to $1.13bn

The import of mobile phones into the country increased by 31.36 percent during the first seven months of the current fiscal year (2025-26) as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

Pakistan imported mobile phones worth US $ 1139.811 million during July-January (2025-26) against the imports of US $ 867.685 million during July-January (2024-25), according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Meanwhile, on a year-to-year basis, mobile imports rose by 33.62 percent during the month of January 2026 when compared to the same month of last year.

The import of mobiles into the country during January 2026 was recorded at $ 179.380 million against the exports of $134.243 million in January 2025.

On a month-on-month basis, the imports of mobile phones increased by 12.60 percent in January 2026, compared to US $159.304 million during December 2025, the data revealed.

Meanwhile, the country’s merchandise exports reached to $20.462 billion during the first eight months (July-February) of the current fiscal year (2025-26), showing a decline of 7.30 percent compared to of $22.073 billion during July-February of last fiscal year (2024-25). On the other hand, imports into the country increased by 8.06 percent, rising from $42.110 billion last year to $45.504 billion during July-February (2025-26).
