The Islamabad district administration has decided to speed up action against illegal Afghan migrants across the federal capital.
In an official advisory, residents were urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and inform authorities about the presence of undocumented migrants in their areas.
According to the advisory, citizens should report any illegal Afghan migrants without delay to the relevant police station. The administration has also provided a control room contact, 051-9108084, for information sharing and complaints. Officials said public cooperation is required to support ongoing checks and enforcement measures.
The advisory warns that legal action will also be taken against individuals who host, assist, or provide shelter to illegal migrants. Authorities stated that helping undocumented persons, whether through accommodation or other support, will lead to proceedings under the law.
Magistrates have been directed to verify documents of suspected individuals during inspections. The administration has instructed assistant commissioners to ensure full implementation of the advisory at all checkpoints. Officials said checks at entry and exit points will continue, and compliance reports will be monitored.
Specific directions have also been issued for transport hubs. Bus stands will not be allowed to operate without a security-related no-objection certificate. Authorities said this step is meant to strengthen monitoring at public transport points and prevent undocumented travel.
The district administration has also issued instructions to trade unions and traders at vegetable markets. It has been made clear that no Afghan national without a visa will be allowed to take part in business activities. Shop owners, contractors, and employers have been warned to verify documents before offering work or entering into business arrangements.
Authorities cautioned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found doing business with, or employing, illegal Afghan migrants. The administration said inspections at markets, workplaces, and commercial areas will continue as part of the drive.
Officials reiterated that the advisory is aimed at enforcing immigration laws and maintaining order in the city.
Rawalpindi RPO orders action against illegal foreign nationals
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani has directed strict legal action against illegal foreign nationals residing in the region.
He issued these instructions while chairing the monthly meeting of the Regional Police Coordination Committee (RPCC) at Police Lines Headquarters.
The meeting was attended by all District Police Officers via video link, while unit heads also participated.
The overall law and order situation, policing performance, and future strategy were reviewed in detail. The RPO ordered that all illegal foreign nationals be dealt with in accordance with the law.
He also stressed the need to enhance security arrangements for Chinese and other foreign nationals working on CPEC and non-CPEC projects.
Directing officers to remain vigilant, he emphasized strict checking at inter-provincial and inter-district checkpoints and ordered senior officers to personally brief and inspect deployed staff. He further instructed that passenger registration at all bus terminals must be ensured without exception.
Search, combing, and intelligence-based operations will be intensified with the support of other law enforcement agencies. The RPO also called for a fresh review of security arrangements for important installations across the region. Special security and traffic plans will be implemented during Ramazan to facilitate Taraweeh prayers, worshippers, and shoppers in markets.
He also directed immediate action on complaints received through the complaint portal.
“Protection of citizens’ life and property remains our top priority,” he said, adding that the Rawalpindi Region Police is on high alert to tackle any untoward incident in view of the current situation.
