Classes have been suspended in 133 government schools, which are located in different areas of Lahore, after a structural survey found their buildings to be unsafe. According to details, a survey was conducted by the Communication and Works (C&W) Department, leading to the vacating and cordoning off of the affected school structures. The CEO of the Education Authority Lahore stated that teaching activities have been halted in partially and fully dilapidated buildings. Dangerous blocks have been sealed, and authorities have begun relocating students to safer facilities. Meanwhile, construction work is underway to improve infrastructure across the city’s schools. New toilet blocks are being built in 144 schools, and boundary walls are under construction in 34 schools. Areas where construction is ongoing have been completely cordoned off to ensure safety. Authorities have also appointed a teacher as a focal person at each site to oversee safety measures, emphasizing that student safety remains the top priority.
