Iranian Commander Warns of Stronger Response if US Escalates Conflict

Published on: July 18, 2026 4:41 AM

Iran US Tensions

A senior Iranian military official has warned that the policy of combining negotiations with military confrontation has ended, saying Iran US Tensions could escalate further if the United States continues its attacks. Major General Mohsen Rezaei, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, said Iran would adopt a more aggressive military strategy if the conflict intensifies.

In an interview with Iranian state television, Rezaei said that if the United States continues military operations for another two or three days, the nature of the conflict could change. He stated that Iran is prepared to move from a defensive posture to a full-scale offensive operation against what he described as enemy forces.

Rezaei also accused US President Donald Trump of violating the bilateral agreement between the two countries, claiming that the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States is now “virtually dead.” He alleged that repeated US actions had undermined diplomatic efforts.

According to Rezaei, the alleged violations include continued Israeli military presence in southern Lebanon, attempts to establish what he called an illegal alternative route to the Strait of Hormuz despite existing Iranian maritime routes, attacks on Iranian territory, and the failure to release Iranian assets. He claimed these actions demonstrated that Washington had used diplomacy to increase pressure on Tehran.

Iran’s armed forces also issued a separate warning through state media, saying that if the United States launches further attacks on Iranian infrastructure, American companies operating in countries that allow US forces to use their territory could become targets. The latest statements highlight growing Iran US Tensions and signal the possibility of further escalation if military operations continue.
