UAE blocks advanced cyber attacks on critical national systems

Published on: February 22, 2026 2:30 PM

The United Arab Emirates has successfully foiled organized cyber attacks targeting its digital infrastructure and vital national sectors, according to official statements. Authorities confirmed that security teams detected and blocked the attempts before they could cause major disruption. The attacks aimed at government platforms and key services, raising concerns about digital security risks. Officials emphasized that protective systems responded quickly and effectively.

The reported cyber operations included attempts to infiltrate secure networks, deploy ransomware, and launch coordinated phishing campaigns. Investigators also noted that attackers used advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence tools, to enhance offensive capabilities. These methods targeted national digital platforms and critical service systems. However, cybersecurity teams contained the threats through monitoring and rapid response measures.

In response, the UAE Cybersecurity Council reaffirmed that protecting individuals, safeguarding personal data, and ensuring uninterrupted critical services remain top priorities. The council stated that national cybersecurity and cyber defense frameworks operate continuously with high efficiency. Furthermore, officials highlighted ongoing system upgrades to counter evolving threats. They stressed that proactive defense strategies strengthen resilience against future attacks.

Although authorities did not identify the perpetrators, they confirmed that recent incidents involved network breach attempts and ransomware deployment efforts. Security teams reported that attackers tried to access sensitive systems and disrupt essential digital operations. Consequently, enhanced surveillance and monitoring protocols were activated across multiple sectors. Officials reiterated that preparedness remains essential in today’s rapidly evolving cyber environment.

Additionally, authorities urged the public to report suspicious online activities through official channels to support national digital protection efforts. They encouraged individuals and organizations to follow cybersecurity guidelines and maintain strong security practices. By doing so, they said citizens can contribute to maintaining stability in the digital ecosystem. Ultimately, officials confirmed that the country’s cyber defense systems will continue operating with vigilance to protect infrastructure and public services.
