Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Yar Muhammad Khan, the Caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, to review preparations for the upcoming elections and overall security arrangements. During the meeting, both leaders discussed maintaining law and order, strengthening counterterrorism efforts, and ensuring a peaceful atmosphere across the region. They emphasized that transparent and secure elections remain essential for public trust and political stability.

The discussion focused primarily on deploying adequate security personnel and enhancing coordination among federal and regional authorities during the polling process. Mohsin Naqvi assured that the federal government would extend complete support to ensure smooth election proceedings without any disruption. He stated that additional security forces would be deployed wherever necessary to maintain strict vigilance. Furthermore, he reaffirmed that law and order would be upheld at all costs to protect citizens and democratic institutions.

Meanwhile, the Caretaker Chief Minister announced that the Counter Terrorism Department in Gilgit-Baltistan will soon become fully operational. He explained that activating the CTD will strengthen the region’s capacity to respond quickly to potential security threats. The move aims to improve intelligence-based operations and enhance preventive measures against terrorism. Officials believe that a dedicated counterterrorism unit will significantly reinforce long-term security infrastructure in the area.

In response, the Interior Minister pledged federal assistance in providing modern technology, advanced equipment, and necessary weapons to strengthen the Counter Terrorism Department. He highlighted that equipping security forces with updated resources remains vital in addressing evolving threats. Moreover, he assured that all administrative and logistical requirements of Gilgit-Baltistan would be fulfilled without delay. The federal government, he added, remains committed to ensuring stability in the strategically important region.

Additionally, both leaders discussed the importance of promoting tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan, which depends heavily on peace and security. Mohsin Naqvi stressed that a safe and stable environment serves as the foundation for attracting domestic and international tourists. He noted that improved law and order would boost economic growth, create employment opportunities, and strengthen public confidence. Ultimately, they agreed that sustainable development and secure elections must go hand in hand for the region’s progress.
