Elon Musk’s X crashes during Bad Bunny super bowl show

Published on: February 9, 2026 5:58 PM

Elon Musk’s social media platform X (formerly Twitter) faced a nationwide outage as Bad Bunny performed his highly anticipated Super Bowl LX halftime show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The disruption left fans unable to share real-time reactions to the star-studded performance.

Reports on Downdetector indicated over 25,000 users across the United States experienced issues, with roughly 75 percent linked to the mobile app and the remainder affecting the website. The outage affected major cities from New York to Los Angeles, spanning the entire country.

The technical blackout coincided with Bad Bunny’s 13-minute set, featuring guest appearances by Lady Gaga, Pedro Pascal, and Jessica Alba. Many social media users joked that the performer’s energy had “broken X,” highlighting his massive popularity and global fanbase.

In addition to the digital disruption, the halftime show sparked discussions due to Bad Bunny’s Grammy speech calling for “ICE out,” which inspired protests outside the stadium. Demonstrators waved banners, underscoring the social and political resonance of his message.

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump did not attend the game, with reports suggesting his team preferred Kid Rock’s separate Turning Point USA performance over Bad Bunny’s halftime show. Despite controversy, Bad Bunny delivered a visually impressive and musically engaging spectacle.

The Puerto Rican artist emphasized the cultural significance of his performance, stating, “The world is going to be happy this Sunday… always be proud of who you are and feel comfortable being yourself.” His message resonated widely, amplifying fan enthusiasm worldwide.
