
Punjab Police have launched a formal investigation into the disruption that unfolded during Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s visit to the Punjab Assembly, raising serious questions over security coordination and verification failures.
According to assembly sources, the Inspector General of Punjab Police has forwarded a detailed incident report to the Punjab Home Department, while additional evidence will be gathered from concerned institutions to determine responsibility.

Earlier, a special committee formed by Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan compiled a report containing video evidence and recommendations for legal action, urging the involvement of law enforcement agencies for a comprehensive probe.
The report revealed that the opposition submitted an incomplete list of guests accompanying the KP chief minister, creating identification problems, while one individual allegedly tried entering using false credentials and resisted security checks.

Furthermore, investigators noted serious lapses in verification, including missing CNIC numbers, photographs, and vehicle details, while the absence of promised opposition representatives at entry points further escalated confusion and disorder.
Officials also confirmed that a convicted individual’s name appeared on the submitted list, prompting the Assembly Secretariat to record statements from on-duty security staff as authorities move toward decisive action.
