Under the new rules, applicants seeking citizenship through naturalisation must pay a fee of 600 Omani Rial. Applicants for Omani nationality or its restoration are required to appear in person for mandatory assessments, including Arabic language tests. All documents must be submitted in Arabic, and the department verifies the applicant’s eligibility and adherence to legal requirements.
Individuals wishing to renounce Omani nationality must submit proof of obtaining another citizenship or official confirmation from the relevant country. Restoration of nationality is also possible for those who previously renounced it, provided they have resided in Oman for at least two years and can demonstrate formal renunciation of the foreign citizenship.
Special provisions apply to foreign women married to Omani citizens. To qualify, the marriage must have been approved by the Ministry of Interior where legally required. The applicant must have lived with her Omani husband in Oman for at least ten years and must have an Omani son. Additionally, good conduct and a clean criminal record are mandatory.
