Shubman Gill will captain India in the ODI series against New Zealand this month. The three-match series will be played on January 11, 14, and 18. The Indian cricket board announced the squad on Saturday.
Gill returns after recovering from a foot injury suffered during training last month. However, he was excluded from India’s T20 World Cup squad on home soil. Meanwhile, he is expected to play domestic cricket before resuming ODI duties.

Shreyas Iyer is also set to return after a two-month injury layoff. He suffered a spleen injury in October and has been in rehabilitation. However, his inclusion depends on final fitness clearance from the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence.
Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah were not named in the ODI squad. The BCCI said Pandya is not cleared to bowl 10 overs. Therefore, his workload is being managed ahead of the T20 World Cup.
